The Association of Child Protection Professionals (previously known as BASPCAN) is delighted to announce a conference to be held on November 1st 2019. The event marks the 40th anniversary of the founding BASPCAN as the only charity and membership organisation specifically serving child protection professionals in the UK.

The day will include:

An opening plenary session

Keynote speakers Professor Brigid Daniel, Dean of the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Management at Queen Margaret University & Professor John Devaney, Centenary Chair of Social Work at The University of Edinburgh

Presentation sessions from those nominated for the AoCPP Research and Practice award

A closing plenary and celebration of 40 years of our work in Child Protection

AoCPP Research and Practice award

 We invited practitioners and researchers to submit an outline for a presentation at the event and received a number of high-quality applications addressing a range of topics. Those shortlisted for the AoCPP Research and Practice award, will present their papers at the conference.

All delegates will be asked to vote for who they feel should receive the AoCPP Research & Practice Award, which will be presented during the evening celebration dinner.

40th Celebration Dinner

We will also be hosting a celebratory dinner reception on the evening of the 1st November. This will celebrate our 40th year and the presentation of an award to a practitioner or researcher who has improved outcomes for children or impacted positively on child protection through research.

The evening will also include an after dinner talk from David Spicer LLB, past chair and author of the Spicer report on sexual exploitation in Newcastle following Operation Sanctuary 

Join us for a drinks reception and three course meal in a lovely venue in historic York, with inspiring content and a gala dinner, this promises to be a really special event
