The Association of Child Protection Professionals (previously known as BASPCAN) is delighted to announce a conference to be held on November 1st 2019. The event marks the 40th anniversary of the founding BASPCAN as the only charity and membership organisation specifically serving child protection professionals in the UK.

The day will include:

An opening plenary session

A reflective perspective from a selection of BASPCAN Past Chairs on significant events and issues impacting and influencing child protection in the UK today

Two sessions in the morning and two in the afternoon

A closing plenary and celebration of 40 years of our work in Child Protection

Call for presentations

We invite you to submit an outline for a presentation or a poster at the conference. Practitioners and Researchers are invited to present on how they have implemented research to their practice to improve outcomes for children or, how their research has impacted on child protection practice. You can download an application form here.

Each session will include one invited keynote lecture, several short presentations from submitted proposals and a plenary discussion.  We will confirm speakers based on the submissions from practitioners, researchers and other relevant groups involved in the field of safeguarding and protecting children. We intend to present an award to the most innovative and impactful presentation at the Conference Ball later in the evening of Friday 1st November. The closing date for submission of abstracts is Thursday 27 June 2019 and successful submissions will be notified by Friday 26 July 2019.

In line with most conferences presenters at the event will be required to register and pay to attend as a delegate. As the conference promises to be a flagship event in celebration of the ongoing work and research in child protection should you decide not to submit a paper for consideration, we do hope that you will still attend, and encourage colleagues to do likewise.

40th Celebration Ball

We will also be hosting a Celebration Ball with a dinner reception on the evening of Friday the 1st November. This will celebrate our 40th year and the practitioners and researchers who have made a positive impact on child protection in the UK within that time.
