Faith Issues in Child Protection and Safeguarding SIG

The Faith Special Interest Group aims to:

  • bring together members with a professional interest in and knowledge of faith and safeguarding in respect of children to share understanding of the pertinent key issues
  • develop a body of knowledge that can benefit faith based practitioners as well as those working in public and voluntary sector safeguarding services
  • move beyond the Christian focus to draw together best practice from a range of faiths
  • consider best practice in working with adult survivors of childhood faith based abuse
  • respond as required to any faith related recommendations or requirements stemming from the IICSA during the currency of this interest group

The Group intends to:

  • develop a resource bank – in a shape or format to be determined – that can provide swift and easy access to information and advice for practitioners
  • run a practice seminar or conference to bring together interested members and led by relevant experts/academics
