We are now seeking an Honorary Treasurer to strengthen the financial skills on the Board of Trustees and provide appropriate oversight of the charity’s financial affairs, in particular as we navigate a period of intense strategic and operational change.

The role of the Treasurer is:

  • to monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health, in line with best practice, and in compliance with the governing document and legal requirements.

The main responsibilities and duties of the treasurer include:

  • working in partnership with the Director to oversee the preparation and presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees;
  • leading in the Board’s duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements;
  • leading in the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost‐management and investment policies;
  • advising on investments or liaising with IFA’s, brokers or other experts to assess investment options on behalf of the Board as required;
  • liaising with and providing advice to the Director in relation to any matters regarding the financial management of the charity;
  • monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity;
  • overseeing the implementation of and monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems;
  • advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan;
  • overseeing the charity’s financial risk‐management process;
  • acting as a signatory and authoriser on the charity’s bank accounts; and
  • board‐level liaison with the charity’s external accountants on matters relating to the preparation of the annual accounts for submission to the Charity Commission, and the annual Independent Review or Audit.
