The Anne Wingate Paterson Scholarship awards grants for research in the field of child abuse and neglect in the UK.
The scholarship fund was established in 2018 from a generous legacy left to the AoCPP by Anne Wingate Paterson who died in 2016. Anne was a dedicated member of the AoCPP and left provision in her will to support an annual award for the study and prevention of child abuse and neglect in Scotland.
The main focus of the scholarship fund is to promote the study of child welfare and protection. It provides individuals with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate study at a UK Higher Education Institute in the field of child abuse and/or neglect (CAN).

We are committed to supporting research in child abuse and neglect and in particular, ensuring that research has the maximum impact in practice. With a range of publication platforms, and events with an international reach, we help many postgraduate researchers disseminate their work to ensure that it has the best chance of making a difference in practice. This may include writing for our blog, Child Abuse Review, or speaking at one of our events.
