Dr Gareth Addidle was a valued and respected member of the AoCPP community. Generous with his time and his knowledge, Dr Addidle regularly went above and beyond to offer encouragement and support to our members with an enthusiasm for his work which was infectious to all who met him.
Dr Addidle was an Associate Professor in Criminology at University of Bradford. A graduate of Glasgow Caledonian University, Doctorate from Plymouth University and previous academic roles at Open University, Plymouth University, University of Derby and Teesside University.
He worked with several police services across the UK and was involved in research projects with Police Scotland (formerly Strathclyde Police), Devon and Cornwall Police, HMIC and, more recently, with Newcastle Business School, Bradford Metropolitan City Council, Barnardo's and the House of Lords. In 2023, Dr Addidle was part of a team who set up and launched the AoCPP's Exploitation Special Interest Group where many of our community went on to benefit from his expertise, research, and willingness to share his professional experience.
The AoCPP owes a debt of gratitude to Dr Addidle for his support of our organisation and his friendship of our team and our members.
We will miss his larger-than-life personality and his passion for social justice. We send our sincerest condolences to Gareth's family, friends and colleagues.
