Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. In this talk, Dr Alan Price will briefly cover the presentation of FASD including common strengths and difficulties, how it is caused, how common the condition is and how we know, and how common it is in certain parts of the population such as care experienced people. Many of the people we see with FASD are care experienced and therefore there is a lot of trauma and attachment difficulty in this population. How these different forms of pre and postnatal adversity combine to impact neurodevelopmental, health and life outcomes is not very well understood - Dr Price will briefly cover what we know so far, and what future research and practice can do to advance the field.
