Additional Info
In this webinar we will explore the mental health crisis in Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities and will comprise an overview of mental health across Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities alongside exploration of the systemic barriers in place which prevent communities receiving equitable services. Issues of safeguarding and domestic violence will be addressed. Much of the presentation will be based on a recent Research Report: Inequalities in Mental Health Care for Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller Communities, Identifying Best Practice - NHS – Race and Health Observatory and debate will be around what knowledge and approaches professionals need to be able to operate effectively within Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller communities. Attendees will be encouraged to share their own experiences and perspectives, with a view to returning to their organisations and challenging knowledge levels, training inclusion and practice guidance. Presenters are Josie O’Driscoll, Irish Traveller and CEO of Gypsy and Traveller Empowerment Herts, and Dr Peter Unwin, University of Worcester.

What our members say

It has improved my knowledge and understanding about the range of harms caused to children and their impact as I have been able to network with a wide range of experts from the UK and beyond. There is no other multidisciplinary association for child protection professionals focused on learning to support and improve practice and policy
