In recent months, concerns about the safety of children who undergo non-therapeutic male circumcision have been raised independently by two judges, a coroner and the CPS. Building on the last seminar in November, this seminar  presents an opportunity to explore the safeguarding aspects of the practice in more detail and to ask questions from two medical professionals with specialist expertise in this area. Having identified the safeguarding concerns, we will begin to address the question as to how we ensure that children whose parents wish for them to be circumcised without a medical necessity are appropriately safeguarded from harm.

What our members say

It has improved my knowledge and understanding about the range of harms caused to children and their impact as I have been able to network with a wide range of experts from the UK and beyond. There is no other multidisciplinary association for child protection professionals focused on learning to support and improve practice and policy
