Welcome to the AoCPP Podcasts!
We start with an introduction and some background from AoCPP Chair Wendy Thorogood and AoCPP Interim Consultant Director, Tammy Banks who both have a wealth of experience within child protection. As always, we are here to support you and while we can't meet you in person right now, we're coming to you on air with our new series of podcasts which features a host of our supporters, colleagues and experts talking about what is relevant to child protection professionals, right now.
Our second podcast is a specialist interview with Sheila Taylor MBE, the CEO of the NWG Network - Exploitation Response Unit chatting with Wendy which gives a fascinating insight into the challenges facing both organisations and real hope for the future.
Next we have Jahnine Davis of @ListenUpCIC who is discussing the importance of EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) in safeguarding and our fourth recording is with clinical psychologist and AoCPP trustee, Dr Sam Warner giving fascinating insights and advice on new mums coping in isolation during the pandemic.
Our fifth podcast is with Marcella Leonard, director of Leonard Consultancy, a highly experienced social worker and current holder of the NSPPC and AoCPP Child Protection Trainer of the Year award. She discusses how practitioners are coping during lockdown and the increased online/technology abuse young people are facing at this time.
Then we have Jan Horwath, Emeritus Professor of Child Welfare at the University of Sheffield. Currently working as a child welfare consultant, Jan is widely published - her most recent work, edited with Dendy Platt, is the 3rd edition of "The Child’s World. The Essential Guide to Assessing Vulnerable Children, Young People and their Families", which was launched at an AoCPP conference last year. Jan's podcast is titled: "Lockdown and the New Normal".
Donna Ohdedar, Head of SILP joins us next, talking to Wendy Thorogood about safeguarding reviews and how to improve review practice and she is followed by Dr Karen Treisman, a Specialist Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the NHS and children’s services for many years. She talks about how children, families and practitioners are coping with the stress and trauma brought by COVID-19 and what to expect as we come out of lockdown.
Next we welcome long term AoCPP colleague, Dr Daniel Rhind, a Chartered Psychologist and a Reader in Psychology at Loughborough University talking to AoCPP trustee, Ann-Marie Christian on the highly topical subject of Safeguarding in Sport.
