Ann Marie Christian, AoCPP Trustee, talks to Dr Daniel Rhind about safeguarding in sport

In this episode, Ann Marie Christian, AoCPP Trustee, talks to Dr Daniel Rhind about safeguarding in sport.
Dr Daniel Rhind is a Chartered Psychologist and a Reader in Psychology at Loughborough University. His research focuses on understanding the development and maintenance of (un)healthy and ineffective relationships in sport. This research was fundamental in the development of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport, now being endorsed by over 100 organisations around the world. For this reason Daniel makes regular contributions to national and international media on issues related to safeguarding in sport.
Alongside this work, Daniel is working on a global survey of professional athletes about their child rights in sport as well as analysing case data related to safeguarding in sport in the UK.
Ann Marie Christian is a registered children and families’ social worker practising over two decades with twelve years of social work management. She worked in a pilot project as a school based social worker in the late nineties for four years and experienced safeguarding of children pre-threshold intervention. Ann Marie evolved and managed cluster social workers in schools and provided safeguarding advice as a safeguarding advisor to schools and Headteachers. This role included a LADO role for education settings. Ann Marie is now an International Safeguarding Consultant and Trainer and has carried out associate work for various organisations including NSPCC, Council of International Schools, Premier League and much more.
