Guest Speaker: Stuart Gallagher, Senior Lecturer, Department of Children and Families, University of Worcester-
"What do we mean when we say we are learning from case reviews? A focus on learning and the transfer of learning and implications for case review practice"
Stuart Gallagher is a senior lecturer in the Department for Children and Families at the University of Worcester. He leads a foundation degree course, Collaborative Working with Children and Families, that encourages students to be change-makers in early help, non-statutory family support services. In 2020, he will also lead a new postgraduate course, Leading Culture Change in Safeguarding. He is also a governor of a virtual school for looked-after children.
His research focuses on learning theories and how they are used or underused in child protection case review practice, despite its over-familiarity with the language of 'lesson-learning'. His frontline practice experience includes home tutor for school-excluded children and education welfare officer. He has been a member of AoCPP (previously BASPCAN) for many years. He is pleased to receive correspondence via s.gallagher@worc.ac.uk.
